Maciek Bator is the founder and project manager of For Your Freedom & Ours CIC, a pioneering social enterprise dedicated to fostering positive relationships between Polish and local communities in Northern Ireland through the prism of history.

With over 20 years of experience in the community and heritage sector within Northern Ireland, Maciek has been instrumental in establishing initiatives that promote understanding and cooperation among diverse cultures. His most significant achievement is the development of a programme that highlights the history of the Polish Airmen in Northern Ireland, which has evolved into the largest Polish shared history project in the UK.

Since its inception in 2013, this initiative has engaged over 4,000 participants and has effectively addressed issues of discrimination and hate crime through the shared narratives of history. Additionally, Maciek has initiated the Polish Wings Heritage Trail, which commemorates the Polish Second World War heritage by creating a tangible connection to the past through exhibitions, murals, and memorials across Northern Ireland. He also leads the PL20NI project, which meticulously explores and archives the experiences of Polish migration to Northern Ireland over the last two decades.
